Retired footballer Keagan Buchanan and content creators Luciano Petersen and Rugen Stevens received recognition at the 2026 GQ Best Dressed Awards in Johannesburg. Buchanan won Best-Dressed Celebrity, while Petersen and Stevens were named Best-Dressed Couple at the event’s 20th anniversary celebration.

The 2026 awards marked two decades of recognising South Africans whose personal style leaves an impression. This year’s winners represented different corners of fashion and culture, from avant-garde design and classic menswear to street style, creative influence and global fashion.

The awards took place at The Venue at Melrose Arch on Saturday, 24 October, with HONOR Magic V6 as the presenting partner.

Keagan Buchanan has traded his football boots for a different kind of recognition. The retired footballer, who hails from Athlone on the Cape Flats, won the Best-Dressed Celebrity award at this year’s ceremony.

Buchanan was already known for his fashion sense during his professional football career, when he regularly featured among the PSL’s stylish players. Life after football has given him room to pursue that interest through business, including his luxury athleisure label, NINE ONE, and collaborations with Steve Madden and Markham.

Content creators Luciano Petersen and Rugen Stevens, widely known online as Lue and Rue, took home the Best-Dressed Couple award. Their recognition celebrates a partnership that combines personal style, creative expression and a shared presence on social media.

The couple have built an audience through fashion and lifestyle content that reflects their individual personalities while highlighting their connection. Their approach to dressing moves across traditional gender expectations, allowing each outfit to express identity without sticking to conventional rules.

Their creative journey also has roots in their relationship. Having met almost eight years ago, they developed an interest in content creation together, with photography playing an early role in their story.
