YoungstaCPT, the voice of the Mother City hip-hop scene, has taken his story off the mic and onto a takkie. Teaming up with Reebok, he’s dropped the Oh Two 1 — a limited-edition pair. The name comes from Cape Town’s area code, and the design runs deep with references to the city that raised him.

You saw it coming. When YoungstaCPT teams up with Reebok, you know it becomes a whole thing. The man himself created this design for the Oh Two 1 sneaker and worked with Capetonian illustrator Ross Solomon for the original illustrations. It is a true collage—leather, stitch, and rubber recounting his journey.

The custom outsole references the streets and pavements he navigated. The yellow-orange gradient across the upper mimics those iconic sunrises and sunsets over Table Mountain. We see inspiration drawn from Metrorail trains and graffiti and the Gatsby sandwich, our iconic dyt. Cassette tapes, taxi rides, and arcade game buttons serve as further references.

But the Oh Two 1 isn’t only footwear. It’s actually a capsule collection. There’s a basketball tank top with matching shorts, a jacket that looks at home both courtside and on the street, T-shirts that carry the story further, and a hoodie designed for the colder Cape mornings.

For YoungstaCPT, a lifelong supporter of the brand, this partnership arose organically from a shared street-level authenticity. The Oh-Two-1 label marks the third local signature sneaker in Reebok’s Pure Mzansi Gold series, a lineage that previously celebrated the late, great AKA.

This drop is for the collectors. Only 500 pairs exist, each one signed, numbered, and boxed with custom artwork plus sticker sheets inspired by the rapper’s mixtapes. The official unveiling took place at Sneaker District in Melrose Arch. Fans could also grab a pair at select retailers nationwide, including Sportscene, Studio88, Shelflife, Y?Gen, and Reebok Canal Walk.

You can also grab a pair in store on the blocc at 3 Exeter Road, Wynberg, the neighbourhood where Youngsta grew up.

This release represents a powerful salute to the hustle and the streets that built one of South Africa’s realest voices.
