1. Definition: Ahoy is an informal way to say hello.

Example: “Ahoy, gahzie, hoe lyk dinge?” (Hello friend, how are things?)

2. Definition: Ahoy is also used to call out to someone, alert them, or signal their presence, similar to shouting “Hey!” or “Yo!”

Example: “Ahoy, hettie man nie daa’ n R2 nie?” (Hey you, can you spare any change?)
