MEANING
A ndota is a gang member, specifically referring to an individual affiliated with the 26, 27, or 28 gangs in the Western Cape. Ndota is a South African term, Zulu for ‘man.
Example:
“If I negotiate with gangs, I give them power to say hello and to know who I am. Then I ask them the same with Sabela and they must tell me. I make myself known to them and they make themselves known to me then we will know we are ndotas, you, see?”
