Spinners is shifting into a higher gear for its second season.
When the series debuted in 2023, it broke new ground as the first African series to compete in the main competition at Canneseries. It went on to earn recognition at the Dakar Series and Shanghai TV Festival, as well as three SAFTA nominations.

It also found a strong local following, helped by a cast that featured familiar Cape Town faces including David Isaacs, Dann Jaques Mouton, Danny Ross and Melanie du Bois in supporting roles.
Now, the story is heading back to the streets with Season 2, and the newly released trailer suggests the series is bringing bigger risks, tougher choices and plenty of tyre-burning action along for the ride.

Plot Details of Spinners Season 2
Two years after breaking away from gang life, Ethan and his friends have built a completely different future.
They are now national spinning stars. There is fame, there is love and, for the first time, life seems to be going their way.
Then comes the ambush.
Ethan’s former gang comes looking for him, putting everything he has built at risk. With his old enemies closing in, he turns to the Maseko clan for protection.
That decision comes with consequences.
Instead of finding a safe way out, Ethan finds himself caught between two rival crime families. Staying alive means navigating dangerous loyalties while trying to decide who can actually be trusted.
And somewhere in all of this, Ethan still has to find his own way forward.
Cast
James returns as Ethan, with Chelsea Thomas back as Amber, Brendon Daniels as Hercules and Dillon Windvogel as Shane.
Joining them is SAFTA winner Clementine Mosimane, who steps into the role of the Maseko crime family’s formidable matriarch.
Mondli Makhoba plays her bodyguard, while Luyanda Zwane and Aphiwe Mkefe play her children.
Fans can also look forward to a cameo from top female spinner Kayla Oliphant. She has another important role behind the scenes too, serving as Chelsea Thomas’ stunt double for the series.
Premiere Dates
The new season gets its first big screening at the Silwerskerm Fees on 21 August before making its television debut on Mzansi Magic on 25 October at 20:00.
There will be eight episodes, with each running for an hour.
And if the trailer is anything to go by, Ethan’s next chapter is going to be a wild ride.
