From the Cape Flats to Miss SA: Meet Top 10 Finalist Bridgette Jones

The Miss South Africa 2025 coronation night draws near, and the Cape Flats has someone to root for. Bridgette Jones, born and raised in Bridgetown, Athlone, has made it through to the finals.

There’s only a week to go until the Miss South Africa stage lights up.

Between rehearsals and media moments, the top ten finalists are putting in the work to win over supporters across the country. But the spotlight is almost theirs. And this year, Cape Town has reason to beam with pride, as Bridgette Jones (28) is in the running for the crown.

It’s a rare but special moment for the Cape Flats to see one of our own compete in the finals. Many of you remember Pearl Jansen from Bonteheuwel, who, in 1970, made history as the first woman of colour to compete as “Miss Africa South” in 1970. Miss Jansen went on to represent South Africa in the Miss World pageant, where she placed second.

We’re behind Bridgette and support her every step so she can bring the win back to the Cape Flats.

Who Is Bridgette Jones?

Bridgette Jones was born and grew up in Bridgetown, Athlone, a suburb of Cape Town. She is a flight attendant, studying International Management online through the German International University of Applied Sciences.

Her goal is to gain global experience academically and professionally so she can create and collaborate with anyone, regardless of where they are in the world. Entering Miss South Africa 2025 was, she says, her next logical step in living a life she loves and winning the title would help her achieve her goal of creating a compassionate footprint.

In her Miss South Africa campaign video, which currently has the most engagement on the official Miss South Africa Facebook page, Bridgette shares her ambition:

“I was born and raised on the Cape Flats, a place that carries both struggle and resilience.

Empower Youth Africa is about courage, purpose, and transformation, giving young people the tools to rise above their circumstances. My campaign is simple, safe spaces through sport.

I want to turn community courts into safe spaces where the game doesn’t end when the whistle blows, but carries on into classrooms and careers.

Growing up I saw how easy it is to lose young people to violence or unemployment, but I also saw how sport kept us focused and full of hope.

Through sport, my campaign creates real opportunities in coaching, skills and leadership, so young people can step into their power.”
