Award-winning filmmaker Nic Matthee is presently engaged in the production of his latest film titled “Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing,” featuring actress Nadia Gouws in the leading role. Matthee and the Red Moon Productions crew were observed filming in Century City on 7 March and near the Milnerton police station on 11 March, indicating that the film’s production is gaining momentum as local drama students and enthusiastic young creative talents join the set.
Matthee, whose recent film The Meeting made a significant impact by demonstrating that low-budget and creative initiatives can transcend borders, had the film screened in Spain on 21 November, 2025. He is now opening new opportunities for talented individuals from the Cape Flats to explore their potential.
“I believe in a filmmaker’s ability to open a door of opportunities for many creative minds to explore their talent through storytelling. I have already commenced production, which is not yet complete, as we still need to film a third scene with excitement,” says Matthee.
Matthee’s distinctive style of featuring women in leading roles in his productions is driven by a sense of female empowerment in a male-dominated environment, as most of his work is based on relevant storytelling, practical effects, action sequences, and emotional interventions that resonate with the audience.
Matthee has received emails and portfolios from actors from South Carolina, San Francisco, and Santa Cruz due to his information being leaked on various casting platforms. However, he remains focused on providing a transformation through the performing arts to create a positive, life-changing impact that can represent the vibrant Cape Town culture on a larger scale.
“This is always a rare opportunity, and in this industry, it can be challenging to engage with various casting agencies and to receive numerous rejections. Here at Red Moon, we aim to attract talented individuals to stop waiting and start creating their portfolios through these initiatives that can enhance their journey to success,” says the filmmaker.
Talented team members such as Patrick Lategan, Conwill Bowie, Tyrique Williams, and Taz Lucas are part of the team and the creative design of the current film project, and they are integral to the Red Moon team.
Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing tells the story of a young woman who was once a vibrant free spirit but was brutally attacked and left for dead by six former criminals who film their criminal activities for entertainment, while the justice system has failed her. Lizel Landrieu (played by Nadia Gouws) begins to become the hunter, while the police are caught in a game of capturing a murderer seeking justice.
Matthee states that while the film is still in production, he is providing an opportunity for drama students, emerging actors, and talented community members to experience what they see on film and TV.
“We remain a vibrant culture of people in the Cape Flats and in the Western Cape in general, and we can be an extension of that. I am pleased that we are shaping great talent to entertain and inspire through teamwork, fun, consistency, and positive habits,” says Matthee.
