YoungstaCPT Takes Wynberg to the World on New Mixtape
YoungstaCPT teams up with a New York producer on his most personal record yet.
YoungstaCPT has always had plenty to say about where he comes from. This time, he digs deeper into Wynberg and Wittebome, with the good, the difficult and the downright complicated parts of growing up finding their place across the project.
Worldwide Wynberg marks his first full-length release of 2026, with the Cape Town rapper turning a phrase he has championed since 2014 into a deeply personal mixtape. The title captures a simple idea: think globally, remember where you come from.
The two places sit deep inside the project, with YoungstaCPT giving both places their flowers, while also refusing to gloss over the harder parts.
That honesty gives the project plenty to chew on.
The music itself takes a trip across the Atlantic. New York producer Cartune Beatz first came across YoungstaCPT online while getting familiar with South African hip-hop. One thing led to another, files started flying between Cape Town and New York, and a creative partnership took shape without the two ever sharing the same room.
That probably sounds strange in an industry where studio sessions often get treated like sacred ground.
For YoungstaCPT, though, remote collaboration is familiar territory. His earlier work with Swiss producer Maloon followed a similar route. Worldwide Wynberg proves a good album can travel quite comfortably without anyone needing to book a flight.
The guest appearances keep the international flavour going. But our own Grandmaster Ready D, founder of pioneering hip-hop group Brasse Vannie Kaap, also makes a guest appearance on the track Best Before.
Crosby Bolani brings a Junior Reid influence to Wildberg, while Harlem lyricist NymLo joins YoungstaCPT for Chokers and Survivors.
Then there is Omari Hardwick on Brick Poem. The acclaimed actor and musician lends his voice to the spoken-word interlude, giving the mixtape a little Hollywood sprinkled across its Cape Town foundations.
Still, the biggest moments might come when YoungstaCPT keeps things close to family.
Can’t Save Everybody gets into survivor’s remorse and social change within Coloured communities. The track also features an outro skit from his grandfather and mentor, Shaakie Roberts.
When U Get Older is written for his son. The song looks at their relationship and the years they have spent growing together.
At its core, Worldwide Wynberg asks a pretty simple question: how far can you go without forgetting where you started?
YoungstaCPT’s answer comes through in every corner of the mixtape. Look beyond Cape Town, sure. Chase bigger stages, work with artists overseas and send music across oceans.
But remember Wynberg.
Remember Wittebome.
Remember the people and experiences that came first.
