5 Of The Dumbest Criminals In Cape Town
The Burglar Who Got Stuck In The Toilet
A chancer in Gatesville, Athlone thought he was being smart when he smashed a bathroom window with a brick to get into a second-storey flat. He squeezed through, landed inside, and then… niks. The bathroom door was locked, and the rest of the house might as well have been on the moon. So he sat himself down on the toilet and waited, because what else was there to do?
Meanwhile, the neighbours weren’t born yesterday. They heard the glass breaking and called the neighbourhood watch, who pulled up with the cops. When they kicked the door open, there he was, still lumming on the toilet.Â
The Robbers Who Gave the Cameras a Show
In Bellville South, two robbers decided to help themselves to kroon and dop at Armada Liquors. They burst in waving guns, threatened the worker, and then made a rookie mistake—they showed their faces to the security camera.
The video went viral, and before long, mense on WhatsApp were dropping names. The arrest was too easy for the cops, as the comments section did the work for them.
The Ou Who Came Back for His Own ArrestÂ
Stealing from someone’s house and leaving your ID behind is one kind of dom. Coming back the next morning to ask for it back is a whole other level.Â
That’s exactly what happened in Parkwood. A 36-year-old thief left his ID at the crime scene and decided to knock on the door while the cops were there taking a statement. He wanted his ID back. The police didn’t even have to chase him down — he basically handed himself in.Â

The Hijackers Who Drove Themselves to Prison
If you ever wondered how badly a getaway could go, four car thieves in Cape Town showed us one of the wildest flops. They stole a car in Hout Bay, sped off, saw blue lights in the rearview mirror, and panicked. Somewhere along the way, they took a wrong turn and sped straight into Pollsmoor Prison.Â
These moegoes had delivered themselves straight into the hands of the law. By the time they realised where they had landed, security was already on them. A high-speed chase that ended at the one place no criminal wants to be. If there’s ever been an easier arrest, this was it.
The Hijackers Who Couldn’t Drive
Three hijackers jumped into a truck in Cape Town, shouting orders and acting dangerous. One of them grabbed the driver, shoved him aside, and hopped behind the wheel—ready to make a dramatic escape. There was just one problem. He couldn’t drive the truck.
For a while, he fiddled with the gears and quickly realised he had no clue what he was doing. After a few embarrassing attempts, they forced the original driver back behind the wheel to move the truck for them. By then, the dashboard camera had already caught everything. Lekker plan, nê?
