Meet Cape Town’s bald actors and celebs in chiskop mode. Some lost their hair to nature. Others chose the razor. All of them wear a smooth scalp like a proud crown. Who is your favourite?

His acting career began in 2012 with a role in the M-Net series Crimes Uncovered. He later appeared in international productions including Dominion, Strike Back and Homeland and One Piece.
South African audiences will also recognise him from Suidooster and Legacy, where he played Sebastian “SJ” Price. More recently, Jaftha appeared alongside Renate Stuurman in the Netflix film Happiness Is, adding another feature to an already varied screen career.
His work spans acting, modelling, presenting and voice work, while his listed skills include singing, stunt work and Muay Thai.
Irshaad Ally

Irshaad Ally first became familiar to South African audiences as a contestant on Survivor South Africa: Malaysia in 2007. The Cape Town actor had previously worked as a graphic designer, but the experience helped steer him towards a career in entertainment.
His acting career includes Four Corners, Suidooster, Homeland, Strike Back and Number 37. In Four Corners, Ally played Gasant Lawrence, a Cape Flats gangster whose story formed part of the film’s exploration of crime and its effect on the community. He later took the lead role of Randal Hendricks in Number 37, a Cape Town-set thriller that received strong critical attention for its performances and tense storytelling.
Ally has also worked beyond acting. He has written and produced since 2016, and his creative work extends into music. In 2018, he collaborated with YoungstaCPT on Dala Wat Jy Moet, a track created for the Number 37 soundtrack and inspired by life on the Cape Flats.
Clint Brink

Clint Brink has been part of South Africa’s acting scene for more than two decades. Born in Paarl, he studied film and television at CityVarsity before moving into screen acting. His early work included Backstage, followed by roles in Generations and Scandal!.
Brink has moved comfortably between television and film. His credits include King Dog, Dollars + White Pipes, Swop!, Lockdown Heights and Ellen: Die Storie van Ellen Pakkies, alongside his long-running soap opera work.
His performance in Dollars + White Pipes earned him a South African Film and Television Award nomination for Best Actor in a Feature Film. He later won SAFTA recognition for his work on Scandal!, taking home awards for Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor in a TV Soap.
Jimmy Nevis

Jimmy Nevis became a major name in South African pop music while still in his teens. Born and raised in Athlone, Cape Town, he broke through in 2012 with Elephant Shoes, a single that quickly put him on the national music map.
That early success was followed by a run of chart-topping releases, including Heartboxing, 7764, FBA, All About It, Balloon, Hey Jimmy and Ayo. His music has always had a strong connection to his own experiences, with songwriting sitting at the centre of his work.
In 2023, Nevis released his fourth studio album, Things We Don’t Talk About. The album earned two SAMA nominations and passed one million streams, while its deluxe edition brought collaborations with artists from outside South Africa. He later took his music to the UK for his first UK tour in 2025.
YoungstaCPT

YoungstaCPT, born Riyadh Roberts, has spent much of his career putting Cape Town itself into the centre of his music. His lyrics draw heavily from the city, its history, its communities and the language he grew up around. The result is hip-hop that sounds unmistakably tied to the Cape.
By the time his debut solo album 3T (Things Take Time) arrived in 2019, YoungstaCPT had already released around 30 mixtapes, alongside EPs, collaborations, music videos and tours. 3T gave his growing body of work a more focused form and earned him the South African Hip Hop Awards Album of the Year prize.
While often sporting his trademark fader, YoungstaCPT shaved his head in the 2020s and joined the chiskop club.
Maurice Page

Maurice Page is a Cape Town actor best known to television audiences for his work in South African soapies. He first gained recognition through Isidingo, before taking on the role of Tyron Daniels in kykNET’s Suidooster. The latter gave him a particularly strong connection with Afrikaans television audiences.
Page’s portrayal of Ty formed part of one of Suidooster‘s recurring brother dynamics, alongside Dean-John Smith’s Wade. The characters brought comedy and warmth to the series, with contemporary coverage highlighting the depth that Page and Smith brought to roles that could easily have remained surface-level comic characters.
Away from television, Page has also appeared in theatre and entertainment events. His screen career has kept him closely associated with Cape Town’s acting community, while his work across English and Afrikaans productions has given him a broad local audience.
Dalin Oliver

Dalin Oliver has an unusual combination of careers: he is a stand-up comedian, radio sports broadcaster, presenter and podcaster. The Cape Town performer originally trained as a high school mathematics and history teacher before moving into comedy and broadcasting.
His comedy has taken him well beyond South Africa. His one-man show 90 Day Comedian won a weekly Best Comedy Show award at Fringe World in Perth in 2024, following an Australian tour that included performances in Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast and Brisbane. He has also performed at the National Arts Festival, the Cape Town Funny Festival and internationally in countries including Canada.
Oliver is equally at home around sport. He has been a sports presenter on Good Hope FM and hosts The Late Late Tackle, a sports talk show featuring Springbok players. His broadcasting work has also taken him to major sporting events, including the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, Netball World Cup and SA20.
JP Duminy

Jean-Paul “JP” Duminy was born in Cape Town and became one of South Africa’s most accomplished all-round cricketers. A left-handed batter and right-arm off-spinner, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2004 before making his Test debut against Australia in 2008.
His Test debut included an unbeaten 50 in Perth, followed by a century in Melbourne in the next match. He went on to represent South Africa across all three international formats and played in three Cricket World Cups. At the 2015 World Cup, he scored an unbeaten century against Zimbabwe and took a hat-trick against Sri Lanka in the quarter-final.
Duminy also had an extensive franchise career. He played for teams including Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, captained Delhi Daredevils and later represented Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League. He captained Islamabad United to the 2018 PSL title and Winnipeg Hawks to the 2019 Global T20 Canada title, where he was named Player of the Tournament.
Devon Petersen

Devon Petersen took a sport that has a relatively small professional footprint in South Africa and built an international career from it. Born in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town, Petersen has competed professionally since 2009 and became one of the most recognisable South African names on the Professional Darts Corporation circuit.
His career reached a major milestone in 2020 when he won the German Darts Championship on the PDC European Tour. That made him the first African player to win a PDC ranking title. The same year, he reached the semi-finals of the PDC European Championship.
Petersen has reached the last 16 of the PDC World Darts Championship three times, in 2014, 2019 and 2021, and has twice reached the quarter-finals of the UK Open. In 2024, he added another significant title to his record by winning the ADC Global Championship. Away from competition, he has also worked as a darts pundit for Sky Sports.
